Proceedings of an International Symposium on Duiker and Dwarf Antelope in Africa
ISBN 978-3-930831-52-4, 2003, 262 pp., € 34.80

The family of Bovidae contains several subfamilies and tribes of small and very small species. Their habitats vary from rainforest to arid lands, and their feeding styles from highly specialized concentrate selectors to grass eaters. In their social systems many are monogameous, others live in small groups or solitary. They are one of the most extensively hunted groups of African mammals. This volume, for the first time, brings together the results fom studies on duikers and other small antelopes in terms of ecology, conservation, feeding, systematics, captive breeding, and translocations from all parts of Africa. A concluding chapter tries to outline future research priorities and conservation needs.
